I wasn’t sure is she was talking to the reader or what was going on a first. It just took me out of the story a bit in the beginning when it started.

It didn’t happen much throughout the middle of the story, so it wasn’t too hard to overlook as a whole. It’s a quirk that some may find extremely amusing, but it annoyed me.

The only big thing that bugged me was that when Finley is stressed she starts talking to an invisible crowd. His final monologue to Finley, though, was just absolutely swoony! He tells her just how beautiful he finds her, and it has nothing to do with her appearance. For the most part I understood it and was completely on board with it, but there was one moment when I thought it was carried out just a touch too far. It makes for a lot of hot and cold moments with him. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the curse, and it’s obvious that Nyfain isn’t willing to sacrifice Finley to save anyone or even everyone. He doesn’t find it so easy to stay away from Finley. However, I also found it interesting that Nyfain has always managed to thwart the demons’ powers. Speaking of steaming hot, there’s all sorts of debauchery happening at the castle since it’s filled with lust provoking demons.

This book was steaming hot, but there was also a good connection that develops between them outside of the bedroom. I enjoyed Finley’s love of plants and all the attention the story spent with that and the connection it made between her and Nyfain, the beast. The “beast” that kidnaps Finley is actually a dragon shifter that had his wings ripped off with the curse. I enjoyed the unique twist in that this world is full of shifters who can no longer shift as part of the curse. I just can’t seem to get enough of Beauty and the Beast retellings, and this didn’t disappoint. This is the beginning of a trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger. It is a full-length novel at 80k words and suitable for 18+. This is a dark and sexy Beauty and the Beast retelling, featuring a strong heroine, a dangerous anti-hero, and a humorous supporting cast. I can save the whole forgotten kingdom, locked away by the demon king’s power.īut it would mean taming the monster beneath his skin. Seeks to use me.Īpparently, I can save him. Forces me back to the castle as his prisoner. When he catches me trespassing in the forbidden wood, he doesn’t punish me with death, as he’s entitled. The only one keeping this kingdom alive is Nyfain, the golden prince to a stolen throne. Stuck here by a deal between the late king and a demon who seeks our destruction. The creature that stalks the forbidden wood.

A spicy new twist on an old classic – a deliciously dark Beauty and the Beast reimagining.
